US. Mount Clemens, MI - A 23-year-old man was arrested Thursday after
leading police on a chase in stolen car in Mount Clemens, according to
the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
An acquaintance of a victim
whose car was stolen Monday from a Mount Clemens business Thursday
morning noticed the 1999 Saturn parked in the lot of Clinton Place
Apartments off North River Road in Mount Clemens and called police.
Investigators
from the Macomb Auto Theft Squad conducted surveillance and attempted
to stop the vehicle after the suspect, Dylan Michael Yates, entered it,
sheriff’s officials said. But Yates sped
away.
“He struck several parked cars and drove over the curb,” sheriff’s Lt. Brian Barlog said.
Sheriff’s
deputies pursued Yates in the Saturn over several streets in Mount
Clemens before he jumped out of the “rolling” car near Grand and
Washington streets, where he was apprehended after a physical
confrontation with deputies, police said.
Four deputies were
injured, including one who reached into the rolling vehicle and two
others “during the tussle” with Yates, Barlog said.
Yates also received minor injuries.
